OUR SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainable practices, from seed to plate
At Aaiwini®, we believe that sustainable agriculture is essential for using natural resources efficiently and protecting the environment. It is a long-term approach to farming that nourishes the soils, requires less energy and water, and promotes biodiversity.
HOW WE IMPLEMENT
How we implement a range of sustainable farming practices
Sustainable Cultivation
Selecting improved varieties that are well-suited to our needs and focusing on cultivation practices that increase biological stability.
Drip Irrigation system
Using drip irrigation to manage water resources more efficiently.
Saving soil with cover crops
Planting cover crops in the off-season to reduce soil erosion and retain soil nutrients.
Optimizing bio-fertilizers
Optimising the use of biofertilizers to ensure crops receive only as much fertiliser as they need to produce healthy yields.
Protecting harmless insects
Employing integrated pest management techniques, crop rotation and insect-resistant seed selection, to reduce pesticide use and protect non-harmful insects
Training & Educating farmers
In addition to our efforts on the farm, we are committed to continuously training and educating our farmers on these practices to ensure that we are able to harvest the highest quality produce in a sustainable manner.
PRACTICING IN TRUE ESSENCE
Sustainability at every stage
We prioritise sustainability at every stage
Our organisation prioritises sustainability throughout all aspects, from producers to consumers. We ensure sustainable practices at every step, from seed to plate. To ensure effectiveness, we focus on four of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. We believe participating in global initiatives is more effective than setting our own goals, and we align our processes and decisions with these goals whenever possible.
ALIGNING WITH
GOAL 5
Gender equality - It is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. We make sure we give justice to women working and their compensation with necessary financial incentives for girl education.
GOAL 6
Clean water and sanitation – Our area of work always allows access to clean drinking water and sanitation because we understand that worldwide, one in three people do not have access to safe drinking water, two out of five people do not have a basic hand-washing facility. Hence, we keep a check on clean water usage & less wastage during its use in our processes.
GOAL 13
Climate action - Climate change is a global challenge that affects everyone, everywhere. We are trying to adjust our business model & align with them in anticipation of less carbon emissions objectives and sustainability practices in all of our processes like transportation used during sourcing, packaging, distribution, Shipping etc.
